Rice: Russia becoming isolated, irrelevant

Bush and Condi putting Putin in his place? It does not sound like she is intimidated by the commie vermin AT ALL.

WASHINGTON (CNN)
-- Russia's policies are putting it on a path to isolation and irrelevance, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Thursday.

Rice also said that Moscow's other behavior, including using oil and gas as a weapon, threatening countries with nuclear attack, selling arms to rogue states and political persecution of journalists and dissidents, paints a picture of "a Russia increasingly authoritarian at home and aggressive abroad."

Her comments came in a speech on the state of relations between Washington and Moscow.

While the United States has taken issue with Russia's behavior for some time, Rice called its invasion of Georgia last month a "critical moment for Russia and the world."

She warned that Moscow's international standing following the Georgia conflict is at a post-Cold War low.

"Russia's invasion of Georgia has achieved -- and will achieve -- no strategic objective," Rice said. "Russia's leaders will not accomplish their primary war aim of removing Georgia's government. And our strategic goal now is to make it clear to Russia's leaders that their choices are putting Russia on a one-way path to self-imposed isolation and international irrelevance."

The United States and Europe will stand up to Russia and not allow it to bully or threaten its neighbors, she said.

Rice to make 'significant' speech on Russia

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will give "a significant speech" on Thursday about the consequences for Russia over its invasion of Georgia, a senior US official said.

"I would describe it as a significant speech about US-Russia relations as well as about Russia's place within the international system," the State Department official told reporters Wednesday on the condition of anonymity.

The speech will provide "an analysis of how we have gotten to this point, it talks about the kinds of choices Russia had before it and it talks about the international system and its response to Russia," he said.

Rice says Russia playing 'dangerous game' with bomber flights

WASHINGTON, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - Condoleezza Rice has said the Bush administration is unhappy with flights by Russian strategic bombers near U.S. borders and accused Moscow of playing a "dangerous game."

Talking about flights by Tu-95 Bear bombers, the U.S. secretary of state told journalists Monday: "We've had Russian Bear flights along the Norwegian coast...even along the borders with the United States which...is a very dangerous game, and perhaps one the Russians want to reconsider."

"Nobody needs Russian strategic aviation along America's coasts," she added.

Rice made the comments as she left for an emergency session of the North Atlantic Council in Brussels, which is due to meet Tuesday to consider relations with Moscow following a cessation in hostilities between Russia and Georgia over South Ossetia.

The emergency meeting was called last week by Washington, which accused Russia of a "disproportionate" response after Georgia launched a military offensive against South Ossetia August 8 to try and regain control over the breakaway region, prompting Russia to send several hundred tanks and thousands of troops into the region.

Rice said the main goal of the meeting of the 26-member alliance was to deny Russia its "strategic objective" by backing Georgian democracy.

She also accused Russia of trying to assert its influence in the region "by military means." She added that Moscow had harmed "its own reputation" with its response to the Georgian attack.

Russia resumed strategic bomber patrols, often escorted by NATO planes, over the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic oceans last August following an order signed by then-president Vladimir Putin.

Condi Tells Putin "This is NOT 1968"

Everything that you are seeing today is due to the stealth connection that Russia has with Iran, Zawahiri from Al Qaeda and the rest of the axis of evil.

Anti-war Students - "ARREST CONDI"

Why do I get the feeling that these mutts look like this? Am I guilty of profiling? Yes, but I am probably RIGHT.

Condi is travelling to New Zealand today and the radical commies from a student union want her to be arrested. In 1963, there was testimony in front of congress about the "45 ways that Communism will undermine society" and infiltrating student unions was a priority on that list. We saw this first hand during the Vietnam war (I am sure that the LSD did not help matters either).

More proof that the radical left are the real fascists and they are out of touch with reason. These kids are being brainwashed by their radical professors and their liberal parents. ALL of these radical anti-war groups are communist front groups where they recruit "useful idiots" (this is what Lenin called them) to go out and start trouble.

Many times the media edits the civil unrest (I know this first hand) to prevent a negative portrayal by the public onto the protesters, unless of course they have video of a cop beating the crap out of one of these anarchist loons. Why does the media do this? They want to spin the news that dissent is being stifled and that the police are abusing the rights of "peaceful protesters". Many times these protests are not peaceful, they contain radicals hopped up on drugs, that are inciting riots and the protesters standing there condoning this behavior are just as guilty.

Russia Calls Georgia A Threat To Stability In South Caucasus

Russia is the threat....

Bush has to hit Russia with everything we got, not Iran.

Cut the head of the snake off NOW....

MOSCOW -- Russia's Foreign Ministry has called Georgia a threat to stability in the South Caucasus, just hours before U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is due to visit Tbilisi.

The Russian Foreign Ministry's statement listed occasions when it said Georgian forces had stirred trouble with the two breakaway republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

"The actions of Tbilisi present a real threat to peace and security in the South Caucasus and put the region on the edge of a new armed conflict with unpredictable consequences," the ministry said.

The United States and Russia are competing for influence in the South Caucasus, which hosts a major pipeline pumping oil from Asia to Europe and borders both Turkey and Iran.

Former Soviet Georgia is a staunch supporter of the United States and has sent soldiers to aid the U.S.-led war in Iraq and aims to join NATO, a move which angers Russia.

Russia supports the rebel regions and its soldiers patrol the de facto borders under cease-fire agreements after South Ossetia and Abkhazia broke away from Georgia in wars in the post-Soviet 1990s.

This year, scuffles and standoffs between Georgian forces and Russian and rebel forces have escalated, worrying the West.

"All this proves the Georgian leadership has intentionally increased tensions in relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia," the statement said after noting what it said were Georgian forces' aggression.
